Our Antique Finds

So Sunday morning came around and Dwight has kinda started a “thing” where he makes us breakfast and usually brings it to me in bed on Sunday mornings. This morning I got out of bed and was picking out my clothes for the day when all of the sudden I hear BUZZ BUZZ BUZZ…he set off the smoke detector this time!  He yelled that he was sorry and I told him I was already awake so don’t feel bad!  Here are the culprits…the two that made it smokie!  ….And also the yummy beignets that we ate! …. He ALSO got my tulips that morning when he went to the store to get supplies for breakfast! He got a “you left the house without telling me” talk from me…for like 2 seconds!…annnnd then he also showed me what else he did that morning… powdered sugar got a little excited and exploded all over the floor and the curtain! It all tasted good though! I am blessed with a sweet man.

After breakfast we head to church. It was a great service with a really kewl video for I heart my city! … After church we went back to the antiques mall after church.

The blue bench was her first sale of the day… and not to us.so..oh well. Moving on! ha. We walk to the back of the store where the blue buffet was that we found yesterday. It is still there… but the bottom is LOCKED again!!! So while dwight goes to get the keys from the lady…I measure. It seems that it may fit our stuff. Buuuut it will be a TIGHT fit! We finally get it open (after dwight was literally on the floor picking the lock!)

…and the inside shelf is messed up. The bottom of the cabinet is also warped and would probably need replacing. So I am still trying to decide if I want it still. And Dwight asked me if I Loved it. I said yes. Then he used a line from our friend Steven…”What my baby wants…my baby gets!” He said if I really wanted it we would make it work. We talked about it for awhile and how we could fit stuff on it…and I told him it was silly just to get it cause I liked it if it wouldn’t work! …sooo he suggested looking around some more…so we did that….we to 2 stores and found some…but none that had the same storage or was as cute…or same price range! I never like to spend more than we have to! Here are some others we found…

So we decided to go back to the first place with the light blue buffet and get it and make it work! At one of the stores on our way out to go buy the hutch Dwight came across a sun dial…We were going to put a bird bath that sits out in the back yard in a spot in the redone garden by the pool… he liked this a lot more and I did too! So…we got the price down a little and then bought it! Well…. on the way to put the sun dial in the truck Dwight noticed a sign in a store window that said “Furniture Marked Down”…so we decided I would go look in there while he put up the sun dial. Boy and I glad we did that!!! RIGHT when I walked in I fell in Love with the FIRST piece I saw on the right:I didn’t want to influence Dwight so I went to another piece and waited for him to come in the store… he walked in and was drawn to the same piece I was and said “This is perfect!”… and he was right. The price was lower than the first blue piece we found! Before I had even measured it to make sure it would fit our stuff…we had bought it!  So we loaded it up and took it home!!!It fits perfectly in the spot we had in mind for it! Here it is…empty… but it will be full of our stuff soon enough! :

Antiques Shopping

So we went to the Denham Springs Antiques mall today. We went because I wanted to go to the book store and because I saw a neat tin roofing tile for sale that might be pretty wall art…. it didn’t turn out that I liked them much in person. However…we did find a bench we love:and a buffet we Love: We had to leave in a hurry tho because we had made plans to meet his family and lost track of time!!! soooo we had to leave them! We are going back tomorrow after church and I am hoping they are still there. I am also going to measure tonight to make sure that what we need space for will FIT on the buffet! How annoying would that be…to get it home and it not work how I need it to! I will post tomorrow on if we got them or not…with pictures of them in their new home (if its our house!)

Smoke for breakfast anyone?! ha!

So every now and then Dwight has to get up SUPER early to go to work… the other day he had to get up at 3:30 AM!!!! Soooo I was online talking to Erica… and she made a joke about me staying up to cook him breakfast…and then I thought about it a little and decided I could do that!  So I waited til about 3…. got the eggs mixed with cheese and ready to go… got the coffee going… cooking the bacon…got the tray out to take it to him in bed right at 3:30 so he can sleep as long as possible! Well, in the middle of cooking the bacon (which is on an ELECTRIC stove btw….and I grew up with a GAS stove… VERY different) the last piece of bacon decided to burn itself! haha!

So im about to cook the eggs and BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP the smoke detector goes off at around 3:19 or so and my poor hubby comes stumbling out of our room to turn it off. He asked what I was doing and I said (in a very sympathetic, im sorry, disappointed kinda voice) “TRYING to make you breakfast!”… he was so sweet and just said “you sweet thing you.”  …I sent him back to bed so he could savor the last 9 minutes or so of sleep for his long day ahead of him. I got the eggs cooked and coffee fixed and put it all on a tray and brought it to him in bed at 3:30 on the dot!

It was quite an eventful morning but he appreciated it and enjoyed his breakfast….which was the goal. And I think it makes for a good “first year of marriage” story…don’t you?!

Work day with hubby, Olde Tyme yummies, and meeting the babies of some buddies! :D

I went with Dwight out on the road today. We were going up past Lafayette and hoped to be able to meet up with some friends in Lafayette on the way back home. Here is some pics from the day!

And after I tripped walking up to one school… (note to self: put phone on silent in car so you don’t do it while walking and trip!)

So after all that…we were able to stop in Lafayette and go to one of my fav places….Olde Tyme!!!

During college and my years afterwards in Lafayette I visited here often! It is an awesome poboy and a kewl environment! Not to mention on Thursdays you can get an foot long turkey poboy for $5! ….my kinda deal! 
Look at this hot guy I saw there (but don’t tell Dwight!  ):I was super excited about getting my turkey poboy….THE GRAVY makes it! …and of course the Orange Fanta! 
Can’t you see the excitement? :Dwight was excited too but the sun kinda put a damper on smiling for a photo! 
He is still super cute tho:THE TURKEY POBOY!!!!:We WERE able to meet up with some friends!!! That was super exciting because they have a little one we hadn’t been able to meet yet! And they are moving to Belgium soon so I wanted to see them and I had to meet him before they go!
How adorable is he? :A nice surprise to the day was that ANOTHER friend of mine had a baby (in Lafayette) THAT very morning….soooo while visiting with the first new baby we decided to go meet the newest baby! 
How adorable is she? :It was an all around great day and I am so blessed to be married to a man that enjoys my company as much as I enjoy his! One day we will have a baby of our own…but for now we will just play with our friends babies and then….give them back! 

After we got back into town we decided to go bake cookies together at his office…so he wouldn’t have to get up at 3 or 4 in the morning to do it before he left for the day!

Look at all those cookies!!!…of course we had to eat a few for dessert after we ate the left overs from Olde Tyme… yummy!

On our way home we saw this license plate… it is funny to us because Dwight calls me his “rib” sometimes… yanno like Adam and Eve…. God made her from his “side”…. :

A long yet great day! We have lots of fun together… and we try to help each other have fun even if what we are doing is not… just being together makes it tons better.
